Here's how a salty plum obsession turned into Australia's specialist salty plum shop.
Twenty-odd years ago, we noticed something in the Darwin salty plum scene. People were absolutely passionate about the pucker — but the plum they loved never stayed the same. One year their favourite variety would be there, the next it'd changed or vanished.
Because there are hundreds of varieties, matching someone with the exact plum they remembered was a lot harder than it should've been. So we built our whole business around solving that.
We got to know the Territory's salty plum lovers, hunted down varieties others had let slip, and started manufacturing our own to keep the classics going. Today we run the Salty Plum Shop in Winnellie, ship all over Australia, and we're still on the lookout for the next interesting variety.
